On April 11, 2022, I had the pleasure of holding the first technical seminar in the program “At school we craft, for career we prepare”, with students from the “Simion Mehedinți” Technical College in Codlea, Brașov.
The presentation “From concept to prototype” was educational, engaging and motivational for young minds eager to work with new technology. The seminar included the 2D design of a gear wheel, 3D modeling using the Autodesk Fusion 360 program and implicitly 3D printing through Fused Deposition Modeling technology (Thermoplastic Extrusion Modeling) with the 3 Ender 3 Pro printers. It was a special opportunity for me to introduce the new generation of students to the advantages of using Fusion 360 for 3D modeling, but also the facilities offered to design the desired part with the help of specific commands, as well as the steps to download and install the program.
Next to me was my associate, Basarabeanu Razvan, the founder of the New Basara Consult company, who exposed the students to the basics of 3D printing technology and its applicability in modern life. During the presentations, dimensionally identical parts, but printed with different parameters, were made with the help of 3D printers, thus wanting to emphasize the execution possibilities of the same drawing with different characteristics and properties.
The representatives of the “Simion Mehedinți” Technical College made an important contribution to the success of the event, which was attended by a large number of students.
